Caring Hands
For the ‘Caring Hands’ program, we provide casts (molds) of the newborn's hands or feet as a 3D sculpture to the parents. The parents and family are then able to take this actual sized 3D casting of their son/daughter home with them. Many parents feel great grief when having to go home every day when their child has to stay in a NICU (especially for an extended amount of time). This simple gift relieves some of that tension and provides a way for them to stay close to their child when at home. Not to mention it is a great way to show off their child to all their friends.

Below are a few "before" and "after" pictures of a hand mold creating by the Charlie's Buddies Caring Hands Program. We have been asked about how to bronze the hand casts and thought this would help those of you wishing to do the same.

Visit the website listed at the bottom of the page, "The Bronzery", for information on prices and timelines. It is recommeneded to call and describe the bronzing you are interested in to get the most accurate information. You need to package up your mold (very carefully) and send it to the bronzing company for bronzing. They will bronze the mold you send them (not make a duplicate, but actually bronze the mold they receive). The company we have used in the past is listed below. They are located in Southern California and were very friendly and were able to answer any and all questions we had.
